Top ten finish for Luis and Thanos in Anderlues

On the first weekend of the year, the CELB Anderlues organised a tournament with an interesting format, the Triathlon de la Bourlette, combining blitz (5 minutes, 15 rounds), rapid (15 minutes, 7 rounds), and classical chess (90 minutes + 30 seconds increment, 3 rounds). Luis Miguel Parreira and Athanasios-Nektarios Gkionis took the occasion to warm up for the chess year 2018. Both finished in the Top Ten of the overall ranking, in which the three parts were integrated with different weighting: Luis reached 7th place (Blitz: 8.5/15; Rapid: 3.5/7; Classical: 2.5/3) and Thanos finished 9th (Blitz: 7/15; Rapid: 4.5/7; Classical: 2/3) out of 47 players in total.
