35 players, including some late entries, are competing in the 2013-2014 edition of the Europchess Rapid Championship. After 5 of the 9 rounds, only defending champion Tom and Georgi are still unbeaten and lead the tournament with 4.5/5. The first half of the championship has already seen several surprises, such as José María’s win against Ronny, Ventsislav’s wins against Georges and Johannes, Luis Carlos’ win against Mattias, or Iñaki’s victory over Frank!

With four rounds still to be played, however, there are still plenty of opportunities to take points. Round 6 was already partly played on 19 February, and the remaining rounds are scheduled for 26 March, 30 April and 21 May.
