Georgi Tomov wins the Blitz Cup 2017!

After his triumph in the rapid championship, Georgi completed the Europchess “Double” by also winning the Blitz Cup! He averaged with more than 4 points, the best 15 tournaments accounting for an excellent 67.5 points. Already with some tournaments to go, runners-up Frank and Martin could not reach this score anymore. Martin gets a special mention for the highest number of tournaments (27) and of course tournament director Jesper Abrahamsen who organised 30 tournaments...

Georgi Tomov is the club champion 2017!

Already in summer, the 2016-2017 edition of the Europchess Club Championship, held as usual as a 9-round rapid tournament, was completed. This year’s winner was Georgi Tomov who was the only one to reach 7.5/9. Silver and Bronze went to Frank Hoffmeister and Pere Moles Palleja who both finished with 7 points. Some weeks ago, the Brussels chess community was shocked and saddened by the sudden passing away of Eddy Mattheys of the Brussels Chess Club.
